Dynamic Evaluation

Once the stability derivatives have been calculated for either longitudinal (pitch) or lateral (yaw) the "Load Coefs" button will populate the stability matrices. This form is accessible from the main stability form from the "Dynamics" button. The dynamic solution of the system matrices is in the form of a quartic equation. The solution of the quartic may contain complex roots. The "Solve Quartic" button solves the quartic for the four roots. The roots may be real or complex. If complex, the roots will appear as complex conjugates.

Evaluation of the solution to the quartic equation can then be performed. In the example below, the system matrices came from a longitudinal analyses therefore a "Longitudinal Dynamics Evaluation" is performed with the message that both the short term and long term modes are oscillatory and they are damped.
